Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters.
Isaiah 55:1
Yesterday afternoon for no rhyme or reason, I developed a really awful headache. I thought o myself: “maybe it was because I had not had enough water.” I took in the necessary amount of water form the next few hours and still had the headache. What made matters worse was that my condition did not get any better. In matter of fact the headache seemed to be more intense. I took a nap thinking maybe I needed some rest and when I woke up… still no relief!
I managed to get to the end of the day. Eating meals did not seem to help either. As I went to bed that evening I felt like maybe my blood pressure was low and after my wife took my blood pressure,it was a reading of 120/62. This is a pretty normal reading as I generally run 118/60 So no big deal here. We prayed and I slept pretty good for the night.
At around 4:30 AM I was awakened and the Holy Spirit led me to read Isaiah chapter 55 as I read I found the words Ho! Everyone who thirst, come to the waters. As I read on I found these words:
Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
3 Incline your ear, and come to Me.
Hear, and your soul shall live;
As I read these words and kept reading the chapter the Holy Spirit impressed me that the reason for my headache was that I was drinking from the fountain of the chaos and controversy of this world so much that unbeknown to me it was effecting my state of being and causing me a headache! I thought to myself: “NO WAY!” As I did the Holy Spirit shared with me that lately I was paying to much attention to the news. The war in Ukraine, the new variant and spread of the Coronavirus in China that may now come to the USA, etc. As I listen to God He shared with me that while I need to watch and be ready these events should not be allowed to consume my thoughts! This is so true! You see, we become what we focus on! The Bible says: “as a man thinks in his heart so is he.” Proverbs 23:7.
I know that I am not alone. Today’s world is sure out of control. If we allow the state of the world to take over our minds then we will become just as out of control emotionally and maybe even medically if we do not balance our approach and our response.
As I spent time in the Word of the Father this morning I allowed Him to speak to me and He invited me to drink from His well of life. He shared with me that today I needed to start my day with Him, and place my confidence in the fact that He is in full control. He then impressed me to play some soft music in the background today that would inspire my soul. He then shared that a little lavender in the humidifier would also be quite relaxing for my mind, body and soul!
Let me invite you today to turn to Him, look to Him and live. For Isaiah 55:12 tells us that when we do:
“You shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace.”
Today, my headache is all gone! Today, I have decided that I will place the majority of my focus in His Word, His goodness, His love and His assurance!
God be with you!
Until next time,
Pastor David
